St. Louis, September 1, 2020 – For the fourth consecutive year, Sense Corp has been recognized by the St. Louis Business Journal as one of area’s healthiest employers, earning accolades for its outstanding corporate wellness initiatives. Sense Corp outpaced seven other finalists to win the SLBJ’s Healthiest Employer for 2020 award in the medium-sized category (100-499 employees).
In announcing the award, the SLBJ highlighted the Sense Corp corporate wellness culture and noted the company’s efforts to maintain healthy initiatives for its 260+ employees in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic. Through virtual wellness events and activities, Sense Corp has been able to allow workers continuous access to healthy resources to maintain their fitness goals.
According to Chief Financial Officer Peter Siegel, Sense Corp is driven by a company culture that aims to help employees be the best version of themselves and foster a collaborative environment around that mission. “It’s that support piece that I think is really the strongest,” he said.
Every year, Sense Corp engages its employees in unique wellness challenges, from using new healthy living apps to developing a healthier diet, to encourage healthy behaviors. This year’s challenge focused on exercising and drinking water, and winners received $200 for meal delivery services.
The company also does an illness prevention challenge, which encourages employees to complete healthy habits such as using hand sanitizer and getting a flu shot. Sense Corp employees can also receive a discount on their health insurance premium for getting annual physicals, dental check-ups, and not using tobacco.
According to Siegel, seeking participation from family members is another key to the success of the Sense Corp wellness program. While the recent pandemic has made it difficult to organize the company’s annual wellness events for families, Sense Corp decided to incorporate a virtual component that includes remote exercise classes for workers and their families.
Sense Corp says it has more than 90% engagement in its wellness program, which Siegel said is designed to be accessible for employees. “Even if you just sit in on a webinar for an hour, that’s helping keep it top of mind and very easy to do,” he said.
